EGEE CPU Accounting
The EGEE Accounting Service, comprised of a data collection and reporting services, is a large centralised database which collects and aggregates CPU usage information from sites across the grid through different types of sensors (APEL, GRATIA, SGAS, DGAS, etc,…).
APEL
- APEL (Accounting Processor for Event Logs) is a component of EGEE CPU Accounting distributed as part of the gLite middleware.
- APEL parses batch system and Grid gatekeeper logs at each Grid site to generate CPU usage records and publishes them into a centralised repository at a GOC (Grid Operations Centre) using R-GMA as the transport mechanism. The records are processed and summarized and can then be accessed through the EGEE Accounting Portal.
- The CESGA accounting portal provides a front-end view of published CPU resources that have been aggregated into summaries. These summaries may viewed per Site, per VO, per ROC, per Tier1 / Tier2, per user.
Documentation
- The EGEE/WLCG Accounting service is described in EGEE II milestone document (MSA1.9)
- A FAQ document for APEL can be accessed at the GOC Wiki.
- Any comments or questions about APEL / CPU Accounting can be forwarded to APEL-SUPPORT@JISCMAIL.AC.UK .
