Introduction
The Research Institute for the Environment, Physical Sciences and Applied Mathematics (EPSAM) at Keele University are providing access to a linux based compute cluster.

Hardware and Software Summary
The KHAOS cluster at Keele has 168 compute cores (Dual core Opteron 64 bit processors) and 3 Terabytes of storage space. The cluster was purchased from ClusterVision using SRIF3 funding. Each compute node has 2 dual core Opteron 280 (2.4 GHz) processors with 8GB of RAM. The local scratch space on each node is in /local. User data is not backed up.
For users with their own code we provide a development environment and the PGI commercial compiler. We are happy to discuss the potential site-wide installation of any software packages that a user may need.
The Globus Grid Middleware is installed to allow users to easily manage jobs across all NGS resources with a single sign-on.
